Sebastian Wenzel explains some of the key features:
“The Hawks are fully CAD designed, analysed and shaped on the CNC shaping machine. We re-tuned the already super fast rocker, using the dynamic curves designed via CAD. The harmonic and carefully analysed curves of the outline support the overall performance with enough area to provide early planing with minimal drag for top speed. The new fuller rail with a lot of tucked under edge prevents the Hawks from catching the rail in both normal gybes and during sliding Freestyle moves. The domed deck in the tail/footstrap area provides a secure and comfortable stance.“
- 100 % CAD designed and analyzed
- Logical volume flow - 100% accurate sensible volume flow
- Harmonic outline – perfect for maneuver/low drag
- Dynamic rocker curve – best combination speed/maneuvers
- Power rail (full, but soft) – for maneuvers and comfort
- Speed v and flat bottom design – sliding maneuvers and free feeling
Top quality and high-tech specification carbon has a perfect weight to stiffness ratio as a result of it´s very fine weave, plus has a fantastic dynamic flex. In combination with sandwich technology, provides a perfect stiffness/weight ratio.
Balanced shaped concept
Outline/thickness combinationfor balance and aefficiency, through a wide mid point and thinner nose/tail shapes. No matter where you stand on the board, it is always perfectly stable and balanced.
Control Concaves
Perfectly positioned in the front part of the board, these deep double concaves give an extremely smooth ride over chop and waves, for perfect control and stability.
Constant Rocker Line
Reworked using Falcon rocker line for even more top speed, control and easy sailing, keeping the boards free and loose on the water.
Maneuver Rails
Perfect solution for giving maximum manoeuvrability, by lifting the tail of the boards, to allow radical turns and tricks. Combined with the long flat section of the quick rocker line – a perfect planing/ manoeuvre combination.
High Performance Hawk G10 Fins
Our Hawk SX boards have fins which might seem relatively small, but are in fact perfectly matched to the very big wind range that these 2 boards offer. The boards themselves create a lot of lift, allowing a smaller fin to be used, which itself has a lot of flex, drive and allround ability, again in new G10 construction.
For the board types that need a high performance CNC fin, Fanatic now supplies G10 fins, constructed with high grade s-glass and epoxy resin. G10 fins are made using a process involving extremely high temperatures and pressure, to ensure a high grade of stiffness and durability. These fins are very resilient to excessive wear and tear and also offer extremely high performance levels.
Cyril Moussilmani, 2005 PWA SX Vice World Champion:
“The last 2 seasons I´ve mostly competed on Fanatic production boards in SX, so I´m super-motivated during the development to be sure the boards as competitive as possible, both in terms of speed and manoeuvres – the 3 new sizes cover all possible conditions and sail sizes for any contest or normal sailing. The 2nd generation of Hawks is most definitely the next level in performance!” The volume is distributed evenly throughout the board, with a little more in the tail for more power and a little less in the nose for more control and better manoeuvrebility.”
